Event Overview

Cultural Heritage Watching is an immersive learning event designed to deepen your interest in local history and cultural assets by challenging ancient techniques. Participants can experience ancient craftsmanship that is rare in modern times, such as pottery making, 'magatama' (comma-shaped bead) crafting, and traditional fire lighting. Additionally, you can deepen your understanding of history by observing authentic pottery and stone tools in the reference room.

Schedule

This event is held over two specific days. Participation in both days is required to complete the program:

  • *Day 1**: 14:00–16:00
  • *Day 2**: 09:00–12:00

Venue & Access

The venue varies depending on the day:

  • *Day 1**: Rinacity Kanoya, Arts and Culture Learning Plaza, 2F Atelier (Crafts)
  • Address: 1-1 Otemachi, Kanoya, Kagoshima 893-0009
  • *Day 2**: Meet at the Cultural Center Parking Lot, then move to Otsukayama Park by bus.

Participation Details

This is a highly exclusive program specifically for students (3rd grade elementary to 3rd grade junior high) residing in Kanoya. Capacity is limited to 20 people, and a lottery may be held if applications exceed the limit. Pre-registration via the dedicated form is mandatory. Since the program spans two days, attendance on both days is a strict requirement.

Preparation & Etiquette

As this is a hands-on outdoor event, please prepare the following:

  • *Clothing**: Wear comfortable clothes that you don't mind getting dirty.
  • *Footwear**: Since you will be working with fire, you MUST wear sneakers or sturdy shoes (no sandals) to prevent burns.
  • *Heatstroke Prevention**: As some activities are outdoors, please bring plenty of water/drinks.
  • *Other**: The event is free of charge, but prior registration is required. Please check the official website for application deadlines and methods.
