Event Overview

"Make and Perform with Little Caterpillar" at the Yokohama Doll Museum is an immersive event where you can experience the many facets of puppetry. Enjoy a variety of programs featuring the warmth of handmade puppets and performances by amateur puppet troupes.

Highlights & How to Enjoy

This event goes beyond just watching a show; it includes hands-on creation and interaction. For example, the "Interaction Corner" in the theater lobby allows you to touch and play with the puppets.

The performances are incredibly diverse. You can enjoy everything from adorable stories featuring dancing caterpillars and animals to tales based on Korean folklore, Aesop's Fables, and even shows using panel theaters or balloons. Each troupe brings its own unique way of storytelling and expression.

Date & Schedule

The event will be held on August 18, 2026. The performances are divided into two sessions: morning and afternoon.

【Morning Session】

  • 10:30–10:50: Interaction Corner "Play with Puppets!" (In the theater lobby)
  • 11:00–: Puppet Show (Featuring "Muddy Theater," "Kori and Tora," "Puppet Short Short Show," etc.)

【Afternoon Session】

  • 13:30–13:50: Interaction Corner "Play with Puppets!" (In the theater lobby)
  • 14:00–: Puppet Show (Featuring "Pon-ta and Kiko's Favorite Things," "Pie-kun's Twinkling Star," "Happy Melody's Happy Time," etc.)

Venue & Access

The venue is the "Akai kutsu Theater" on the 4th floor of the Yokohama Doll Museum. It is conveniently located and easy to include in your Yokohama sightseeing itinerary.

Participation Tips

Some programs are offered for free (however, a separate admission fee for the Yokohama Doll Museum is required). Each session has a capacity of 120 people on a first-come, first-served basis. We recommend checking the registration details in advance and planning your visit according to your preferred session (morning or afternoon).

What to Bring, Dress Code & Manners

Please be considerate of other audience members while enjoying the performance. For payments and admission, please note the following:

  • Payment Method: Cash is required for the museum admission fee.
  • English Support: Some English signage may be available at the facility.
  • Reservation: Registration is handled via a first-come, first-served online form.
