"Akimode" is a seasonal ritual held at Kawagoe Kumano Shrine, a sacred site dedicated to good fortune, matchmaking, and protection from misfortune. With a history dating back to 1590 when it was founded from the Kumano lineage, the shrine offers a profound spiritual experience amidst the crisp autumn air.
The highlight of Akimode is the "Good Fortune Guidance Events" that can only be experienced during this season. These rituals allow you to refresh your spirit and invite new energy through unique practices:
Additionally, visitors can enjoy collecting seasonal Goshuin (temple stamps). By collecting the five seasonal stamps (Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter, and New Year), you may be eligible to receive special gifts such as a Shichifukujin wallet or a Golden Yatagarasu Omikuji.
The Akimode period runs from September 20 to November 3.
Specific "Good Fortune Guidance Events" are held on the following dates:
The event takes place at Kawagoe Kumano Shrine in Kawagoe City, Saitama.
From the "Kura-no-machi Exit (East Exit)" of Hon-Kawagoe Station on the Seibu Shinjuku Line, walk north along Chuo-dori for approximately 5 minutes. You will see the shrine sign on your right after crossing the Renjacho intersection.
Approximately 5 km from the Kawagoe Interchange on the Kan-etsu Expressway.
During Akimode, special charms and experiences are available to enhance your luck. Since the "Good Fortune Guidance Events" occur at specific times, we recommend checking the schedule in advance. If you are a Goshuin collector, don't miss the chance to collect the seasonal stamp.
