Yamasakigawa Shiki no Michi is a beautifully maintained riverside walking path along the Yamasaki River in Mizuho Ward, Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture. It was originally developed in 1977 to fulfill the community's desire for a path filled with seasonal sensations. The area is nationally recognized as one of the '100 Famous Cherry Blossom Spots' by the Japan Cherry Blossom Association. The path stretches approximately 2.5 kilometers from Ishikawa Bridge to Ochiai Bridge, featuring about 550 cherry trees. The area near Kanae Bridge is particularly famous for its harmonious view where the cherry blossoms seem to float upon the river surface.
The history of the Yamasaki River is long and rich. During the Edo period, land development took place in the downstream area, and the current river course near the mouth was redirected in 1856 due to the development of the Himuro Shinden area. The tradition of planting cherry trees began in 1927, when the Ishikawa Land Readjustment Association planted cherry trees on both sides of the river south of Ishikawa Bridge. In 1988, the area was further developed under the 'Furusato River Model Project.' The final phase of the Mizuho section (between Kanae Bridge and Ishikawa Bridge) was completed in 2007, creating the beautiful waterfront space seen today.

During the peak cherry blossom season, occasional night-time illuminations are held (such as near Kanae Bridge), offering a magical and dreamy atmosphere compared to the daytime.
The riverside is equipped with 'pocket parks,' water fountains, and benches, making it an ideal spot for a relaxing stroll or a light walk while listening to the river. Areas like Tanabe Park allow visitors to get closer to the water's edge to experience the refreshing riverside environment.
The path is located near public facilities such as Mizuho Sports Ground and Paloma Mizuho Sports Park. As it is situated within a residential area, it offers a peaceful and tranquil atmosphere for walking. Many local parks are also nearby, serving as a vital green space for the community.
