Seninzuka Park is a beautiful natural park located in the Nanahubo district of Iijima Town, Nagano Prefecture. The park is characterized by its breathtaking scenery, where the majestic peaks of the Central Alps are perfectly reflected on the surface of the lake. With well-maintained facilities including campsites, auto-camping areas, and a mallet golf course, it provides a serene environment where visitors can deeply connect with nature.
The area holds a fascinating historical legend from the Sengoku (Warring States) period. It is said that a mountain castle called Kitayama Castle once stood nearby. According to local lore, when the castle was under attack, many soldiers and their equipment were buried in this area. This history led to the name "Seninzuka," which translates to "Thousand People's Mound/Mound of a Thousand People."
The park offers a constantly changing landscape depending on the season. Visitors can enjoy the grand scale of the Central Alps alongside the tranquil lake, and the area is an excellent spot for stargazing and nature observation. In addition to the natural beauty, the park features active facilities such as a mallet golf course and various camping sites. You can experience the changing colors of the landscape, from spring blossoms to autumn foliage.
Each season brings a unique charm: enjoy the beautiful cherry blossoms in spring and the vibrant autumn leaves in the fall. The area is particularly famous for its stargazing; the clear night air provides an incredible view of the starry sky. Please note that from December to March, the operating hours are shortened to 15:00, so it is highly recommended to check the schedule before your visit.
With fully equipped campsites and auto-camping areas, you can enjoy an authentic outdoor stay. The park also offers mallet golf for a fun, active experience.
