Saredo Isozaki Jinja is a historic shrine located in Kashima City, Ibaraki Prefecture. It is said to have been founded in the year 856 (Seiwa 3) and has been cherished by the local community for centuries. As you walk through the solemn approach lined with a tunnel of 300-year-old camellia and tabunoki trees, the view suddenly opens up to reveal a beautiful coastline and the iconic "Torii Gate with an Ocean View." The deities enshrined here are Sukunahikona no Mikoto and Onamochi no Mikoto. Sukunahikona no Mikoto is a very important figure in Japanese mythology, often associated with the creation of the world and said to have arrived from across the sea on a boat made of a giant gourd.
