The history of this site is profound, deeply rooted in the era when the Kitabatake clan held sway over this region. In 1936, the area was designated as a National Historic Site and a Place of Scenic Beauty. Later, in 2006, it was integrated with the nearby 'Kiriyama Castle Ruins' to be officially recognized as the 'Taki Kitabatake Clan Castle and Residence Site (Kitabatake Clan Residence & Kiriyama Castle Ruins).' This area once served as a vital strategic stronghold for the samurai class.
The most striking feature of the garden is its designated scenic beauty. The space offers a tranquil atmosphere where the historical aesthetics harmonize beautifully with the local topography and vegetation. Additionally, the adjacent Kitabatake Shrine features a sanctuary dedicated to Kitabatake Akitomo, known as the first Governor of Ise Province.
