Hori Garden (Former Hori Family Garden) is a nationally designated scenic Japanese garden located in Tsuwano, Shimane Prefecture. The most striking feature of this garden is the way it weaves together diverse landscapes and architectural styles from different eras. Within a single estate, you can experience the aesthetic sensibilities of the Edo period (the main house), the Meiji period (the guest house 'Rakusanso'), and the Taisho period (the 'Warakuen' garden). Originally developed as the residence of the Hori family, the estate preserves several significant structures. This includes the Edo-period main house, the Meiji-period guest house 'Rakusanso', as well as various storehouses and gates. The garden is divided into four distinct areas, each offering a different view and era: the 'Main Garden' of the Edo period, the 'Rakusanso' garden of the Meiiji period, the 'Warakuen' of the Taisho period, and the 'Outer Structure Garden' of the former Hatasako Hospital. The architectural beauty of the Sukiya-style guest house 'Rakusanso', along with the traditional storehouses and gates, adds profound depth to the scenery.
