Hongo no Sennenzakura is a legendary cherry tree located within the grounds of the former Myozen-ji Temple in Nanbu Town, Minamikoma District, Yamanashi Prefecture. Estimated to be between 500 and 600 years old, it is officially designated as a natural monument of Yamanashi Prefecture. The tree is scientifically fascinating due to its extraordinary morphology: its roots are established within a hollowed-out cavity located approximately 5 meters above the ground. This unique structural characteristic makes it a one-of-a-kind sight for visitors.
This cherry tree has stood as a silent witness to history for centuries.
