Himachi Park is a municipal park located in Minato City, directly adjacent to the sophisticated commercial complex 'Tokyo Midtown.' Spanning approximately 1.4 hectares, this urban oasis provides a tranquil escape with lush greenery and beautiful waterfront scenery right in the heart of Tokyo. The park preserves the atmosphere of a historic garden once known as 'Hinoyashiki' during the Edo period. The combination of a traditional stroll-style garden and a large central pond creates a stunning harmony between historical aesthetics and the modern cityscape.
The history of this site dates back to the Edo period, when it served as the residence for the Mori clan of the Hagi Domain. The garden was famously known as 'Shimizu-en,' a prestigious site offering breathtaking views of the Edo cityscape. The area was also called 'Hinoyashiki' due to the abundance of cypress (hinoki) trees, which is the origin of the current place name, 'Himachi.' Over the years, the site transitioned through various eras, including serving as a military garrison during the Meiji period and undergoing various administrative changes post-war. Following the development of Tokyo Midtown in 2007, the area was revitalized to maintain its traditional charm while evolving into an open, modern space that seamlessly integrates with contemporary urban life.

The centerpiece of the park is the large pond that occupies nearly half of the area. The stroll-style design, where visitors walk around the perimeter of the water, allows you to experience the classic layout of a traditional Japanese garden. There is also an 'Azumaya' (traditional gazebo) where you can rest while gazing at the water. For families, the park offers unique playground equipment named after natural elements: 'SANJIN (God of Mountain),' 'FUJIN (God of Wind),' and 'KAIJIN (God of Sea).' These elements make it a wonderful, safe environment for children to interact with nature.
Himachi Park offers a different face to nature throughout the seasons. The deep greenery surrounding the pond and the way the sky reflects on the water's surface provide a sense of profound calm. While the park is accessible during the day, please note that during late-night hours, the entrance may be closed with a chain to encourage quietude. We highly recommend visiting during the daytime to enjoy the sunlight reflecting off the pond. It is an ideal spot to refresh yourself between shopping or dining sessions at Tokyo Midtown.

Visitors can enjoy a leisurely stroll through nature. Walking around the pond is a meditative experience that connects you to Japanese garden culture. The grassy areas and the playground provide a space for children to be active, making it a precious spot to feel the presence of nature amidst the concrete jungle. Whether you are looking for a quiet moment of reflection or a place for your children to play, the park offers a perfect sense of relaxation.
The park is situated right next to the world-class commercial facility 'Tokyo Midtown,' which hosts high-end boutiques, gourmet restaurants, and art galleries. This makes it easy to transition from a relaxing stroll in a traditional garden to a sophisticated urban experience. Being in the prominent Roppongi/Akasaka area, the park is also highly accessible and serves as an excellent base for exploring central Tokyo.
Casual clothing and comfortable walking shoes are recommended for your stroll. While the park is free to enter, please follow the rules of the surrounding facilities.
