This event is a hiking program located in the historical area of Kiyama Town, Fukuoka Prefecture. Participants will walk the route from the Nakanoo stone foundations to the Oosaishi stone foundations near the Kiiki Castle ruins, a site with a history as a former 'Western Capital' of ancient Japan. The Oosaishi group features large granite foundations used for structures, positioned in a location that offers a panoramic view of the castle interior.
This course explores the historical remains of Kiyama. The Oosaishi stone foundations are particularly significant, as the high volume of tiles found in the area suggests they were part of a very important facility. Through this hike, you can physically trace the ancient historical background of Kiyama alongside its physical ruins.
The event is held on July 11, 2026. Please follow the organizer's instructions regarding specific meeting times and course segments.
The venue is the Kiiki Castle ruins area in Kiyama Town. The nearest station is JR Kiyama Station, and the site is approximately a 10-minute drive from the station. From the pedestrian bridge at Kiyama Station, you can see the distant view of Kiiki Castle and the Sekiya earthen walls. Parking is available in the vicinity.
This is a hiking program focused on exploring historical stone foundations. Since you will be observing terrain and ancient ruins, we recommend researching the historical background in advance. You can also visit the Kiyama Town Library to view local historical materials, such as tiles excavated from the Kiiki Castle ruins and other Yayoi period artifacts.
