Goma is a traditional Buddhist ritual where sacred wooden sticks are cast into a fire to fulfill one's wishes. Amanoyama Kongoji is a temple with approximately 1,300 years of history, founded by Goki during the Nara period, and is renowned as a sacred site where Kobo Daishi (Kukai) practiced during the Heian period. Often called the "Nyonin Takayama" (Women's High Mountain), it has long been a place of deep devotion.
The highlight of this event is the Goma fire ritual performed in the Goma-do hall. Participants write their names and wishes on a sacred wooden stick (Gomagi) and cast it into the fire to pray for their desires to be fulfilled.
