Makuhari Beach Fireworks Festa (the 48th Chiba Citizens' Fireworks Festival) is a beloved summer tradition in Chiba City. The year 2026 is particularly significant as it celebrates the 900th anniversary of the founding of Chiba. Set against the beautiful waterfront of Makuhari, this year's event will feature an unprecedented 24,000 fireworks shells. From traditional large-scale shells to cutting-edge creative displays synchronized with music, prepare for a dynamic and unforgettable summer night at Makuhari Seaside Park.
Highlights & Best Ways to Enjoy
This year's festival offers several special programs:
- *900th Anniversary Special Program**: To celebrate this historic milestone, the sky will be filled with approximately 100 large shells (5-sun size or more) and 900 sea-based fireworks, featuring creative displays that represent the Chiba clan crest and the number '900' set to music.
- *Powerful Sea-Based Fireworks**: Experience the overwhelming scale of fireworks launched diagonally from the Makuhari shore toward Tokyo Bay, reaching up to 150 meters in size. The fan-shaped effect fireworks that spread across the horizon are a must-see.
- *Grand Finale**: The event concludes with a spectacular display by branding partner ZOZO, Inc., featuring approximately 10,000 shells that will paint the sky and sea in golden hues with breathtaking precision.
- *Message Fireworks**: A moving segment where high-artistry 'large shells' are launched alongside heartfelt messages to loved ones.
