Yugendo Cave is a natural cave museum located in Higashiyama, Ichinoseki City, Iwate Prefecture. The geological layers here date back to the Middle Paleozoic era, roughly 350 million years ago, when this area was a shallow seabed. The discovery of crinoid calyx fossils on solid rock here is considered highly significant for scientific research. Additionally, the area across from the cave exit has long been a site of spiritual devotion, associated with the Kannon Reizan mountain traditions.
