Yufuin Floral Village is a delightful mini-theme park located in the Yufuin area of Oita Prefecture. Modeled after the scenic landscapes of the Cotswolds in England—often called the most beautiful villages in the world—the park features charming architecture and quaint shops. It offers a magical, exotic atmosphere that allows visitors to escape the hustle and bustle of daily life.
Opened in 2012, this facility carefully preserves the traditional architectural style and atmosphere of the British countryside. The landscape is maintained in harmony with nature, providing an environment where visitors can feel as if they have traveled abroad while staying in Japan. Beyond being a simple tourist spot, it is managed as a place to experience specific character worlds and antique culture.
The village is home to many unique shops and exhibits. Notable stops include 'Moomin’s Shop,' featuring goods from the famous Nordic stories, and 'THE HIDEOUT,' which specializes in antique watches and leather goods. The presence of vintage British cars (MINI) parked throughout the area adds to the authentic, nostalgic charm of the scenery.
The landscape changes beautifully with the seasons as various flowers are planted throughout the village. From the colorful blooms of spring and summer to the more serene and tranquil scenery of autumn, there is always something beautiful to see. Daytime is the best time for shopping and photography. Please note that specific operating hours for individual shops and facilities may vary.
There are many interactive experiences available. At 'OWL'S FOREST,' you can enjoy close-up interactions with owls. You can even use a dedicated studio to dress up in wizard-like costumes and take commemorative photos with an owl. Other activities include shopping for gemstone accessories at 'EARTH MARKET' or browsing local delicacies at the 'KYUSHU FOOD MARKET.'
The village is easily accessible from major sightseeing spots in Yufuin. It is approximately a 15-minute walk or a 5-minute drive from JR Yufuin Station. If you are driving, it is only about 5 minutes from the Yufuin IC, making it a perfect destination for a scenic road trip. With many hot spring resorts and accommodations nearby, it is easy to include in your Yufuin itinerary.
As the grounds include cobblestone paths and some uneven surfaces, comfortable walking shoes are highly recommended. Regarding payments, please carry both cash and credit cards, as acceptance varies by shop. While there are English signs and shop names, please check with staff for detailed inquiries. Photography is encouraged to enjoy the beautiful scenery, but please be mindful of the environment.
