Yashio Ikoi no Mori is a recreation facility harmoniously integrated with nature, located near Yashio Dam in Yurihonjo City, Akita Prefecture. The greatest charm of Yashio Ikoi no Mori is the ever-changing scenery of the dam area. In spring, it is a renowned spot for yellow cherry blossoms, creating a beautiful contrast against the water. From mid-to-late October, the area reaches its peak with autumn colors, as the surrounding hills turn vibrant shades of red and yellow. The facility features walking paths that allow you to feel the nature up close. Additionally, the site includes an auto-camping area (30 sites) and a park golf course, providing a perfect environment for outdoor enthusiasts and sports lovers.
There are various ways to enjoy the site depending on the season. In late April, the contrast between the cherry blossoms and the dam lake is spectacular, making it an ideal time for blossom viewing. In mid-to-late October, the autumn foliage is at its most beautiful, drawing many visitors to capture the reflection of the colorful trees on the lake surface. Please note that the facility is generally open from late April to early November. During the winter season (mid-November to mid-April), parts of the facility may be closed due to heavy snowfall. Daytime is the best time for strolling around the dam and enjoying park golf.
Visitors can enjoy authentic outdoor experiences at the facility. The auto-camping area offers both powered sites (3,500 JPY per night) and non-powered sites (2,500 JPY per night). To make outdoor trips easier, rental services for camping gear such as tents and cooking utensils are available, allowing even beginners to enjoy camping with minimal preparation. The on-site park golf course also offers an active way to engage with nature.
The facility is located at the foot of Mt. Yashio (713m). The base of the mountain features a pristine beech forest, perfect for hiking while enjoying the fresh greenery in spring or the colorful leaves in autumn. The entire area offers a rich, immersive natural environment.
When enjoying outdoor activities, please prepare appropriate clothing and gear for the season. Comfortable walking shoes and activewear are highly recommended for camping and hiking. The facility includes a center house equipped with coin showers, a laundry area, a shop, and a cafeteria.
