Guide
Yakeyama Ski Resort is a premier destination located in Yманino Town, Shimotakai District, Nagano Prefecture. Leveraging its high-altitude location of over 2,000m, the resort features expansive long courses that beautifully integrate the natural mountain terrain. One of its most significant draws is the exceptional quality of its snow. Due to its inland position and low humidity, the area produces high-quality, dry powder snow that is highly sought after by enthusiasts. The resort is also equipped with high-capacity transport, including gondola lifts, allowing visitors to move efficiently across the vast slopes and maximize their time on the mountain.
This area is recognized as one of the most diverse and varied ski areas within the broader Shiga Kogen region. The course design is deeply rooted in the natural landscape, maintaining the integrity of the mountain while providing modern amenities. It serves as a vital hub for winter sports, deeply connected to the natural environment of the Japanese Alps.

The main draw of Yakeyama Ski Resort is its dynamic course layout that utilizes the natural topography. Depending on your riding style, you can enjoy everything from well-groomed runs to deep powder areas and technical tree runs. The inclusion of two gondola lifts ensures smooth access to the higher elevations, making the journey to the best snow seamless. For serious skiers and snowboarders, the consistency and quality of the snow are the ultimate highlights of the experience.
The season typically runs from December through May of the following year. For the best experience, we recommend visiting between January and March when the snow quality is most stable and abundant. Operating hours are generally from 06:00 until 14:00 on weekdays and until 15:00 on weekends/holidays. It is standard practice to start your descent in the morning to make the most of the lift availability.

In addition to traditional skiing and snowboarding, the resort may offer specialized experiences such as e-SNOWBIKE depending on the season and specific plans. The resort is also very family-friendly, offering programs such as free lift passes for elementary school students and younger children (please note that a free seasonal pass must be collected at the lift ticket office).
The Shiga Kogen area is a vast collection of various ski resorts and hot spring (onsen) facilities. The area surrounding Yakeyama Ski Resort offers a perfect environment to enjoy the seasonal beauty of the Japanese Alps both on and off the slopes.
Since you will be active at an altitude exceeding 2,000m, thorough cold-weather protection is essential. Regarding payments, please check in advance if your specific shop or facility accepts credit cards or IC cards, as many locations may still be cash-preferred.
