Wada Nagahama Beach is a beautiful coastal area located on the Miura Peninsula in Yokosuka City, Kanagawa Prefecture. It is also affectionately known by locals as "Nahama." The beach officially opens for the summer season from July 5th to August 31st, serving as a vibrant hub for beach leisure and marine sports. With a sandy area of approximately 2,500 m², it is a popular destination not only for swimming but also for enthusiasts of windsurfing, yachting, and sea kayaking.
This area has long been cherished by local residents for its rich natural beauty and the scenic coastline of the Miura Peninsula. Today, it serves a dual purpose: a relaxing destination for swimmers and a professional base for marine sports enthusiasts. The surrounding area is well-developed as a leisure zone, featuring facilities like Soleil Hill, which helps preserve and showcase the natural environment of the region.
During the summer, the beach features the "Wada Nagahama Gourmet Park," a collection of seaside huts (Umi-no-ie). Here, you can enjoy various meals and rent essential swimming gear. A unique feature of this beach is that even outside the designated swimming zones, you can enjoy activities such as yachting, windsurfing, and sea kayaking throughout the year. The sand has a distinctive grayish texture, and the waves are generally gentle, typically reaching knee to waist height.
The peak season for the beach is from early July to late August. During this period, the seaside huts are open from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, providing food, rest areas, and rental services. Even outside this peak window, the area is frequently used as a base for marine sports. The bright daylight hours are ideal for swimming, water sports, and relaxing on the shore.
