Guide
Usoiso Beach is a beautiful seaside spot located along the coast of Iwaki City in Fukushima Prefecture. It is a seasonal destination that opens specifically during the summer months. The coastline is characterized by a gentle, shallow topography, making it safe and pleasant for wading. The area is well-developed with essential facilities, including a large parking lot and restrooms, serving as a popular hub for families and tourists looking to enjoy summer leisure activities.
The area underwent significant development as part of the coastal restoration efforts following the Great East Japan Earthquake. This included the construction of sea walls and the establishment of modern amenities such as parking lots, restrooms, and park facilities to enhance the leisure environment. While nearby locations like the former Tomoma or Aiiso beaches saw changes in status in May 2022, Usoiso Beach remains a dedicated seasonal destination with specific opening periods.

Visitors can enjoy swimming and beach activities during the official summer opening period. To make your visit more comfortable, there are three dedicated foot-washing shower stations located on the beach to help rinse off sand. For those traveling by car, the facility offers ample space with a parking capacity of approximately 350 vehicles, ensuring easy access. The changing scenery of the coastline throughout the day offers a peaceful atmosphere for relaxation.
Please note that this beach is not open year-round; it is strictly a seasonal facility. For the 2025 season, the opening period is scheduled from July 19th to August 17th. If you plan to enjoy swimming, you must visit within these specific dates. While the beach can become quite lively and crowded during the daytime, please be aware that availability and conditions may change based on weather and sea state.

While the beach is perfect for swimming during the summer, there are strict local regulations to ensure safety and order. Specifically, the use of jet skis within the swimming area is prohibited by local ordinance. Additionally, activities such as beachcombing with heavy gear, marine sports involving motorized vehicles, barbecues, and campfires are strictly prohibited. Visitors are expected to follow these rules to maintain a safe and pleasant environment for everyone.
The area around Usoiso Beach is home to several major attractions in Iwaki City. You can visit the famous 'Aquamarine Fukushima' aquarium or enjoy the hot springs and entertainment at 'Sparesort Hawaiians.' The well-maintained coastal roads also make this a wonderful area for scenic drives or relaxing seaside strolls.
