The Uno Chiyo Birthplace is the ancestral home of Uno Chiyo, a famous female writer with deep ties to Iwakuni. In 1974, the house was restored to its original appearance through the efforts of Uno Chiyo herself. Today, it is carefully preserved as a precious historical site, featuring a stunning Japanese garden that serves as a sanctuary for literature lovers. The garden is beautifully adorned with plum blossoms, cherry blossoms, autumn leaves, and lush moss, offering a sense of profound tranquility to all who visit.
Born in Iwakuni, Uno Chiyo was a significant figure in Japanese literature, and her masterpiece 'Ohan' is considered one of her most important works. This birthplace has been preserved through dedicated volunteer efforts. The garden even features a cherry tree inspired by the 1,400-year-old tree in Neo Village, Gifu Prefecture, which served as a model for her work 'Usumi no Sakura,' deeply connecting nature and literature. The site remains a vibrant cultural hub, hosting events such as tea ceremonies held in her memory during the autumn months.

The cherry blossoms and plum blossoms are best enjoyed from March to April, while the autumn foliage is spectacular from October to November.
