Unko Museum TOKYO is a one-of-a-kind entertainment destination located on the 2nd floor of DiverCity Tokyo Plaza in the Odaiba area of Koto-ku, Tokyo. Based on the concept of "Poop is Cute," the museum transforms a subject often considered a taboo into a positive, high-energy entertainment experience through humor and clever design. Rather than just looking at exhibits, visitors can fully immerse themselves in this whimsical world using all five senses.
Following a successful launch in Yokohama, the museum opened at DiverCity Tokyo Plaza on August 9, 2019. It represents a modern evolution of Japanese humor, blending traditional wit with contemporary design and technology. The museum also features a strong musical identity, with tracks provided by the renowned artist tofubeats, creating a seamless fusion of sound and sensory experience.
The museum is divided into several themed zones. You can explore the dynamic "Volcano" central plaza, the visually stunning "Unstagrammable Area" for perfect photos, and the sensory-driven "Unteractive Area." Other unique zones include "UNKO MART," a quirky take on a convenience store, the "Kuso Game Center" for gaming fans, and the "Umberto Room," dedicated to the museum's official character, Umberto. Each area is designed to provide a deeply immersive and playful atmosphere.
The museum operates nearly every day of the year. Weekdays tend to be much calmer and more relaxed. Since weekends and holidays can get quite crowded with families and tourists, visiting on a weekday morning or during the late afternoon is recommended for a more peaceful experience. The atmosphere also shifts beautifully in the evening with specialized lighting, offering a different vibe for a nighttime outing.
There is plenty to do inside the museum. Visitors can take photos in dedicated photo zones, interact with the world of the characters, and enjoy digital or physical interactive-play elements. From the tactile-focused interactive exhibits to the "Unko Factory" gift shop where you can buy official merchandise, every corner offers a new discovery.
The museum is located within DiverCity Tokyo Plaza, one of Odaiba's major commercial hubs. The surrounding area is home to large-scale attractions like the life-sized Unicorn Gundam statue, as well as numerous shopping malls and restaurant-filled streets. It is easy to combine a visit here with a day of shopping and sightseeing around the Tokyo Bay area.
The facility is a comfortable indoor space. To make the most of the highly photogenic exhibits, we recommend wearing outfits that are both comfortable and stylish for photos. While credit cards, transit IC cards, and various electronic money options are accepted, it is always a good idea to carry a small amount of cash just in case. While English signage is available, much of the detailed content is in Japanese, so checking the official website beforehand is helpful. Photography is encouraged, but please handle all exhibits with care.
