7 min readOverview & Highlights
Ueno Sky Bridge is a 225-meter-long pedestrian suspension bridge located in Ueno Village, Gunma Prefecture. It serves as a scenic connection between Kawawa Nature Park and the Mahoba-no-mori forest area. The most striking feature is the breathtaking view from a height of 90 meters above the ground. This bridge is a vital route through this lush, natural area, inviting visitors to enjoy a unique sensation of walking through the sky.
Historical & Cultural Background
The area is characterized by its beautifully preserved natural environment. The Sky Bridge was developed to improve access to the surrounding natural parks and the leisure facilities of Mahoba-no-mori. It is designed to harmonize with the local landscape, allowing visitors to enjoy the scenery while feeling deeply connected to the nature of Gunma.
Main Attractions
The greatest draw is undoubtedly the height and the view. Looking down from 90 meters above the ground provides a special experience that makes you forget the daily grind. A standout feature is the magical bubble spectacle: from April to November, between 10:30 and 15:30, bubbles dance in the air for 10 minutes every 30 minutes. This event is held daily throughout the peak summer season in late July and August, making it a highly recommended visit during summer vacations.
Seasonal & Time-of-Day Recommendations
You can enjoy different expressions of the landscape depending on the season. It is highly recommended to visit between April and November to witness the bubble performance. To maximize your chances of seeing the bubbles, plan your visit during the morning or early afternoon (between 10:30 and 15:30).
Experiences & Activities
Rather than just a way to get from point A to point B, the bridge offers the experience of an "aerial stroll." As you cross, you can enjoy the surrounding nature from a high-altitude perspective. Once you reach the other side, the Mahoba-no-mori area offers various leisure activities amidst nature.
Surrounding Area
The Sky Bridge is situated between Kawawa Nature Park and Mahoba-no-mori. Beyond the bridge lies the Mahoba-no-mori area, a family-friendly leisure zone. The surrounding area is well-equipped with facilities to support your stay in nature and areas perfect for forest walking.
