Tokyo Dome is one of Japan's most iconic multi-purpose stadiums, located in Koraku, Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo. It is famously known as the home ground for the Yomiuri Giants of the Central League. Opened on March 18, 1988, as Japan's first roofed stadium, the facility covers a massive area of 46,755 m². The construction of Tokyo Dome utilized innovative air-supported roof technology. Developed through international technical partnerships in the 1980s, it was designed to be a truly all-weather facility. Its nickname, "BIG EGG," stands for "Big Entertainments & Golden Games," symbolizing a giant egg full of future possibilities and the rounded shape of the structure itself. For decades, it has stood as a central pillar of Japan's sports and entertainment culture.
The most significant feature is its weather-resistant structure. For baseball, the stadium uses "FieldTurf," a long-pile artificial grass introduced in 2002 that provides a sensation similar to natural grass. The stadium also features a high-visibility, full-color LED main scoreboard that delivers crystal-clear updates on the game. The capacity is highly adaptable, accommodating approximately 43,500 people for baseball games and up to 55,000 for major concerts.
Because Tokyo Dome is an all-weather facility, you can enjoy events in any season. During the professional baseball season from spring through autumn, games are held at various times, including daytime and night games. Concerts often take place in the evening, where the stadium's lighting creates a spectacular atmosphere different from the daytime. Since the venue is sheltered, events proceed as planned even during rainy weather.

As an indoor facility, you can dress comfortably in any season. However, if you are attending a long event, we recommend comfortable clothing and a light jacket for temperature control. For payments, most shops and restaurants within the facility accept cash, credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, etc.), and major transit IC cards (like Suica or Pasmo). It is highly recommended to book and purchase tickets online in advance. Please check specific event rules regarding photography and filming.
