The Hongo Campus of the University of Tokyo is the main campus of Japan's most prestigious institution of higher learning, located in Bunkyo Ward, Tokyo. The history of the Hongo Campus is profound. During the Edo period, the land was occupied by several daimyo-style residences, most notably the Kaga Clan.
