The Tokushima Castle Museum is dedicated to the collection, preservation, and exhibition of historical materials related to the Tokushima Domain and the Hachisuka clan. Its primary mission is to deepen the understanding of the origins and culture of Tokushima City. The permanent exhibition rooms are organized into five captivating themes: the transitions of the domain's administration, the lifestyle of the daimyo (feudal lords), the structure of the castle, the daily life of the castle town, and the legendary activities of the Awa Navy.
Built on the site of the former Tokushima Castle Omote-goten (main palace), the museum plays a vital role in preserving the local historical and cultural identity. The exhibits focus heavily on the Tokushima Domain and the Hachisuka clan, covering a wide spectrum from political shifts to the sophisticated lifestyle of the ruling class and the maritime history of the Awa Navy.

The museum is open from 9:30 to 17:00. We recommend visiting during the daytime to enjoy a relaxed and thorough viewing experience. From mid-October to late November, the museum often hosts special exhibitions featuring curated collections from across the country, making this an excellent time to visit for a broader cultural experience.
Visitors can engage in a deep learning experience through the permanent displays. The visual impact of the 'Senzanmaru' whaleboat and the architectural scale model provides a tangible connection to the past. Depending on the season, the museum may also host educational lectures, study sessions, or special temporary exhibitions.
The museum is located within Tokushima Chuo Park. The surrounding area features scenic spots such as the former Tokushima Castle Omote-goten Garden, allowing visitors to enjoy the historical landscape and the natural environment of the park.
