Tazawako Ski Resort is a prefectural ski resort located in Semboku City, Akita Prefecture. Situated halfway up Mt. Komagatake, the resort offers a magnificent vantage point where you can look down upon Lake Tazawa, renowned as the deepest lake in Japan. The resort has a distinguished history of hosting major events, such as the National Sports Festival and the All Japan Ski Championships, making it a high-caliber destination. The facility was established in 1969 by the Akita Prefecture and other local entities. It has played a significant role in Japan's winter sports history, hosting events like the Kuroshio Kokutai in 1971 and the All Japan Ski Championships (Alpine) in 1977. Currently, the resort is managed and operated by Tazawako Kogen Lift Co., Ltd., a third-sector company. As a facility deeply rooted in the local community, it has long been a cornerstone of winter leisure and tourism in the Akita region.
