Tamogi Pond is situated at the foot of the Nabekura Highlands, positioned near the border between Iiyama City in Nagano Prefecture and Joetsu City in Niigata Prefecture. It acts as a 'warm water reservoir' to regulate water temperature; since using direct snowmelt water would be too cold for certain agricultural needs, the pond helps adjust the water temperature before it is used for farming in the region.
The most striking view at Tamogi Pond is the sight of Mt. Nabekura rising before you, with the 'Valley of Giant Trees' spreading at its base. The view of the eastern side of Mt.
