Tamagushigawa Cherry Blossom Trees is a renowned scenic spot located along the Tamagushi River, which flows through the residential areas of Yao City in eastern Osaka. Approximately 700 Yoshino cherry trees line the river for about 5 kilometers, creating a breathtaking landscape that harmonizes with the flowing water. The most striking feature is the 'cherry blossom tunnel' formed by the trees leaning in from both banks during the spring season.
This beautiful landscape has been nurtured through the cooperation of the local community. Since around 1965, local residents have worked together to plant and continuously maintain the cherry trees. These 700 Yoshino cherry trees, grown through the dedication of the community, have become an iconic symbol of the region's natural beauty.
The primary highlight is the continuous 5-kilometer stretch of Yoshino cherry blossoms. From the riverside promenade, you can look up at the canopy of flowers that seems to cover the sky. The best viewing time is typically from late March to mid-April, when the soft pink hues of the blossoms reflect beautifully on the surface of the river.
The peak season is generally from late March to mid-April. Visiting during the warm daylight hours of a spring day offers the most vibrant colors. Please note that schedules for cherry blossom festivals or illuminations may change annually, so it is recommended to check the latest information before your visit.
Visitors can enjoy a relaxing stroll along the riverside paths to admire the cherry blossom tunnel. The 5-kilometer path offers a wonderful opportunity to walk through nature and experience the changing scenery of the seasons at your own pace.
The Tamagushigawa cherry blossom area is very conveniently located near Kintetsu Kawachi-Yamamoto Station and Takayasu Station. Its easy access from the stations makes it a perfect stop while exploring the surrounding residential and commercial areas of Yao.
We recommend wearing comfortable walking shoes, as the riverside paths follow the natural terrain. While there is no entrance fee, it is a good idea to have cash on hand if you plan to purchase food or drinks nearby. As English-language support may be limited, we suggest checking details in advance.
