Takami no Sato is a renowned destination for weeping cherry blossoms (shidare-zakura), situated at an altitude of 650 meters in Higashiyoshino Village, Nara Prefecture. Located at the foot of Mt. Takami, this area is home to approximately 1,000 weeping cherry trees that paint the landscape in beautiful shades of pink as spring arrives. It is widely known as a place where visitors can enjoy the sight of full blooms amidst the crisp, clean air of the highlands.
This region is a nature-rich area surrounded by the mountains of Yoshino, a place with a long history of coexistence with the natural environment. The cherry blossom scenery at Takami no Sato is deeply connected to the local ecosystem, and the changing expressions of the mountains throughout the seasons continue to captivate visitors year after year.

The greatest attraction is the vast expanse of weeping cherry blossoms. The "Sennen no Oka (Millennium Hill) Observatory" offers a spectacular view of the endless sea of cherry blossoms stretching toward the horizon. Additionally, in the area known as the "Tenku no Niwa (Sky Garden)," visitors can feel the transition of the seasons while strolling through the rows of cherry trees. During the peak of spring, the sight of petals dancing in the wind creates a truly enchanting atmosphere.
The most recommended time to visit is April. Every year, many travelers visit to see the weeping cherry blossoms at their peak. Depending on the year, the peak bloom here may occur slightly later than the famous Yoshino cherry blossoms. During the bright daylight hours, the vibrant colors of the blossoms are most striking, and on clear days, the view is enhanced by the pristine, high-altitude sky.
At Takami no Sato, you can enjoy a relaxing stroll through nature. Walking through the cherry blossom paths allows you to fully immerse yourself in the seasonal scenery. There are also shops on-site selling light snacks and refreshments, where you can enjoy items made with local ingredients or cherry blossom-themed treats. Spending time in this natural setting is a perfect way to unwind and escape the hustle of daily life.
The Higashiyoshino area, where Takami no Sato is located, is blessed with abundant natural beauty. The surrounding landscape features the mountains of Yoshino, with various routes suitable for driving and hiking. It is accessible by car from the Osaka area, making it easy to combine this visit with other sightseeing plans within Nara Prefecture.
Because the site is located at an altitude of 650m, temperatures can be lower than in the lowlands. Please prepare appropriate clothing for the season. As many local payments may be cash-only, it is highly recommended to carry Japanese Yen with you.
