Tairyo Ichiba Nakaurra is a premier seafood market and dining destination located in Sakaiminato City, Tottori Prefecture. It specializes in the bountiful seafood of the San'in region, offering high-quality products such as the famous Matsuba crab, fresh fish, and dried fish (ichiya-boshi). The facility includes the 'Kaisen Shokudo Nakaurra' seafood restaurant, where visitors can experience the authentic flavors of the local sea through various dishes and fresh ingredients.
Sakaiminato is renowned as a major fishing port in the San'in region. Tairyo Ichiba Nakaurra was established to showcase and provide easy access to these rich marine resources. The facility also serves as a cultural landmark, featuring the 'Gaina Kitaro' statue—one of the largest in Japan—and life-sized statues of Nezumi-Otoko. These icons are closely linked to the beloved 'GeGeGe no Kitaro' folklore, making the market a cultural hub for both food and local legend.
The market features sections dedicated to seasonal San'in seafood. A standout attraction is the trademarked 'Kani Toro Don,' a rice bowl featuring crab with a texture remarkably similar to fatty tuna (toro). Outside, visitors can enjoy photography opportunities with the massive 'Gaina Kitaro' statue and the life-sized Nezumi-Otoko statue, which is designed to allow visitors to shake hands with the character. Notably, the Kitaro statue is depicted holding a Matsuba crab in its left hand.
Operating hours vary between the market and the restaurant. The market is generally open from 8:30 to 16:30, while the restaurant (Kaisen Shokudo Nakaurra) operates from 11:00 to 16:00 (or 14:30 depending on the day). Please note that the restaurant is closed every Thursday (unless it is a public holiday). The selection of seafood changes with the seasons, with Matsuba crab being a highly sought-after seasonal item. The facility is closed for the New Year holidays from December 31st to January 4th.
Visitors can shop for premium San'in seafood, including fresh fish and local specialties. The dining area offers a variety of seafood dishes, most notably the signature 'Kani Toro Don.' In the outdoor area, you can engage in unique photo experiences, such as taking a picture with the giant Kitaro or attempting a handshake with the life-sized Nezumi-Otoko statue.
Several tourist spots are located near Tairyo Ichiba Nakaurra. Yumiminato Park, Yumiminato Tower, and the Minato Onsen Honokami are within an 8-minute walk. The market is also easily accessible, located about 10 minutes by car from Sakaiminato Station and 7 minutes from Yonago Kitaro Airport.
Credit cards are accepted for payments within the facility. There are no specific dress code requirements, though comfortable walking shoes are recommended for exploring the outdoor statue area. While no prior reservations are required for the restaurant, please be mindful of public etiquette while taking photos.
