Sunpu Castle Park, located in Aoi-ku, Shizuoka City, is a comprehensive public park developed on the former site of Sunpu Castle. Renamed in 2012, the park encompasses the former Honmaru and Ninomaru areas of the castle, blending historical ruins with modern recreational spaces. It has been selected as one of Japan's 100 Best Historical Parks, showcasing a high-level coexistence of historical value and urban green space.
The park sits on the grounds of the original Sunpu Castle, which was established by Tokugawa Ieyasu during the early Edo period. A statue of Tokugawa Ieyaya stands within the park, serving as a tribute to his deep connection to this land.
