Guide
Sumida Aquarium is located on the 5th and 6th floors of Tokyo Skytree Town®, right at the foot of the iconic Tokyo Skytree®. As a sophisticated urban aquarium, it offers specialized programs and exhibits designed to bring visitors closer to the wonders of aquatic life. You can observe a diverse range of species, including majestic Green Sea Turtles, charming penguins, and the striking patterns of anemonefish (clownfish). The space is designed to provide a sense of tranquility, allowing you to feel the gentle movement of water and escape the hustle and bustle of the city.
Situated in the historic Shitamachi area of Tokyo, this facility represents a modern leisure destination that has grown alongside the development of Tokyo Skytree®. It serves as a bridge between the traditional atmosphere of Tokyo's low-city charm and the cutting-edge urban development of the Skytree Town® complex. The aquarium provides a unique cultural experience through the lens of marine biology, acting as a key landmark for both local and international tourism.

The centerpiece of the exhibits is the graceful movement of the Green Sea Turtles. Another major draw is the anemonefish, whose distinctive patterns are a delight to watch. In the penguin exhibit area, visitors can observe the subtle movements and expressions of these birds up close. The entire exhibition space is crafted with high-quality lighting and crystal-clear water displays to create a relaxing, immersive atmosphere that highlights the natural beauty of the sea.
Operating hours vary depending on the day of the week. From Monday to Friday, the aquarium is open from 10:00 to 20:00. On Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays, the hours are extended from 09:00 to 21:00. We recommend visiting during the later evening hours on weekends to enjoy the beautiful light-up effects in the tanks and the calming atmosphere. Please note that hours may change due to seasonal adjustments, weather conditions, or maintenance, so checking the official status before your visit is advised.

The exhibits are structured to allow for close-up observation of marine life's natural behaviors. For instance, the penguin area offers a wonderful opportunity to observe their daily routines and social interactions. Because the aquarium is integrated with the larger Tokyo Skytree Town® commercial complex, visitors can easily combine a relaxing aquarium visit with shopping and dining at nearby restaurants and boutiques for a complete day of entertainment.
Sumida Aquarium is directly adjacent to the Tokyo Skytree® and the Tokyo Solamachi shopping mall. This makes it an incredibly convenient stop after enjoying the views from the Skytree observation deck or during a shopping break at Solamachi. The area is easily accessible via nearby stations on the Tobu Railway lines. It is a vibrant district where you can experience a blend of modern entertainment and the nostalgic charm of Tokyo's Shitamachi district.

The facility is fully barrier-free, featuring accessible entrances and restrooms for wheelchair users. While there is no specific dress code, comfortable walking shoes are recommended for a pleasant visit. Please ensure you complete your ticket purchase and entry procedures at least one hour before the closing time.
