Sugira Beach is a stunning coastal destination located within the Airport Coastal Park in Kikai Town, Oshima District, Kagoshima. The beach is characterized by a beautiful 250-meter stretch of white sandy beach and exceptionally clear waters. One of the standout features of Sugira Beach is that it remains suitable for swimming regardless of the tidal changes. This stability allows visitors to enjoy swimming and water activities in a reliable environment without having to constantly monitor the tide levels.
Kikaijima, where Sugira Beach is located, is an island with a unique geological formation shaped by the accumulation of coral reefs. The natural environment of this area is deeply connected to its geological history, which includes traces of coral fossils. This natural richness makes the area a beloved destination for both local residents and tourists seeking to enjoy leisure activities amidst preserved natural resources.
At Sugira Beach, you can enjoy a variety of activities set against a backdrop of breathtaking nature. The transparent waters reveal glimpses of colorful tropical fish, offering a rich visual experience of the marine life. The coastline is also recognized as a scenic spot, perfect for relaxing while taking in the beautiful scenery. Beyond traditional swimming, the beach is a popular hub for marine sports such as Stand-Up Paddleboarding (SUP), making it a highly attractive destination for adventure seekers.
Sugira Beach is best visited during the summer months, specifically from May through September, to enjoy full swimming conditions. The bright daylight hours are ideal for observing the tropical fish and the stunning clarity of the water. Additionally, the area is a renowned scenic spot for watching sunsets; visiting in the late afternoon allows you to experience a breathtaking sunset over the ocean.
In addition to standard swimming, the beach is a prime location for marine sports like SUP. The gentle waves and stable environment make it an excellent place to experience life on the water. Because the beach is not heavily affected by tidal fluctuations, you can plan your leisure activities with greater confidence and ease.
