The Shimoda area has long been developed as a hub for marine leisure. The atmosphere is particularly lively during the summer holidays, making it a great time for family outings.
Beyond standard swimming, Uraura Beach offers a variety of marine activities. Sea kayaking is one of the most iconic experiences here. You can join tours or practice your skills while navigating the beautiful coastline in the calm waters. The beautiful coastline of Shimoda continues beyond Uraura Beach. The area is easily accessible by car, and you can use nearby parking lots to head directly to the beach. It is also located near other famous beaches in Shimoda, such as Shirahama and Nyuta Beach, making it a very convenient base for exploring the Izu Peninsula.
When enjoying the beach, please prepare swimwear, rash guards, and sandals. It is also essential to bring a hat and sunscreen to protect yourself from the sun. Paid shower facilities and rental items (such as parasols and beach beds) are available on-site. As part of beach etiquette, please remember to take your trash home and be considerate of other visitors. For your safety, please refrain from entering the water outside of lifeguard hours or during the off-season.
