Shojiko Lake is one of the Fuji Five Lakes, located in Fujikawaguchiko Town, Minamitsuru District, Yamanashi Prefecture. It is the smallest of the five lakes, with a circumference of approximately 5 km. Its most distinctive feature is the 'Kodaki Fuji' (Embracing Fuji) view, where the silhouette of Mount Fuji appears to be embraced by the nearby Mt. Omuro. The lake water has a unique greenish hue due to its natural plankton content. It offers a deeply tranquil environment where visitors can contemplate the majestic presence of Mount Fuji amidst pristine natural scenery.
Shojiko Lake is situated within the Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park. The lakeshore is an excellent place for water-based recreation. Facilities are available for activities such as canoeing and boating, allowing you to glide across the peaceful water. Fishing is also a popular pastime, with species like crucian carp and wakasagi (smelt) found in the lake. As one of the Fuji Five Lakes, Shojiko is closely connected to neighboring lakes such as Lake Sai, Lake Motosu, and Lake Kawaguchiko. These lakes are separated by highly permeable lava flows but share a similar geological relationship. Exploring the surrounding area allows travelers to view Mount Fuji from various iconic angles and perspectives.
