Jogaya Tsutsumi is a celebrated cherry blossom destination located in Kitamoto City, Saitama Prefecture. Approximately 60 Somei Yoshino cherry trees are planted along both sides of the embankment, forming a breathtaking tunnel of blossoms that seems to cover the sky in spring. The striking color contrast between the soft pink cherry blossoms and the bright yellow rapeseed flowers (nanohana) blooming at your feet is a unique spectacle found only here.
History & Cultural Background
This embankment was originally constructed during the Edo period to protect the surrounding fields and farmland from flooding. In the post-war era, local residents planted these cherry trees, carefully nurturing and preserving them to this day. The site is beloved as a seasonal tradition, existing in harmony with the local natural environment.
