Shirahige Waterfall is a breathtaking 30-meter drop located in Biei, Hokkaido. The waterfall earned its name from the way the flowing water resembles a white beard. The most striking feature is the way groundwater seeps through natural rock formations and cascades powerfully into the Bioei River. It is a famous spot where visitors can observe the unique geological formations and the dynamic movement of the water up close.

The Biei Shirogane Onsen district is located very close to the waterfall. Most travelers visit the waterfall in conjunction with the nearby hot spring facilities and accommodations. The area is also near the rolling hills of Biei, making it easy to explore the vast natural landscapes of the region.
Please dress appropriately for the season. In winter, the area can be icy and slippery, so it is essential to wear shoes with good grip to prevent slipping. For restroom facilities, please use the ones located within the Shirogane Tourism Center (the building opposite the former Shirogane Hotel). Regarding photography, the use of drones is strictly prohibited under the Aviation Act unless you have obtained official permission. Please refrain from unauthorized drone flights.
