Shinmei Shrine is located in Osaracho, Toba City, Mie Prefecture. The shrine within the precincts known as "Ishikami-san" is famous for its reputation of granting one heartfelt wish to women, drawing visitors from all over Japan. The shrine is surrounded by lush nature, offering a serene and quiet environment for reflection.
Historical records, including a roof-plate from the year 1609 (Keicho 14), attest to the long-standing history of the shrine's structures. During the Meiji era, several local shrines were consolidated, and today, twenty-six deities are enshrined here. The deities include Amaterasu Omikami, Amanihomimi-no-mikoto, Amahi-no-mikoto, and Tamayori-hime-no-mikoto. The shrine maintains deep-rooted local traditions, particularly those connected to the sea and ancient maritime rituals.

The greatest highlight of Shinmei Shrine is the Ishikami-jinja (Ishikami-san) located within the grounds. The deity is represented by a sacred stone, which has been a central object of worship since ancient times. Visitors can also admire the stone torii gates and the beautifully maintained shrine buildings that evoke a sense of profound sanctity. Depending on the season, special ceremonies and unique opportunities for worship are held.
Shinmei Shrine offers unique experiences during specific times. For instance, during the full moon, the "Yomairi" (Night Visit) is held. During this event, the shrine grounds are illuminated by the soft glow of candles, creating a mystical atmosphere vastly different from the daytime experience. Other seasonal events include the "Ishikami-san Spring Festival" held on May 7th, and the traditional Kamisai Shishimai (Lion Dance) performed on January 5th.

Visitors can write their wishes on special paper and place them within the designated prayer area to offer them to Ishikami-san. The shrine also offers various amulets (omamori), some of which can be requested via mail. These seasonal events provide a wonderful way to touch the authentic traditions and rituals of Japanese culture.
