Shinmaiko Coast is located in Mitsu-cho, Tatsuno City, Hyogo Prefecture, facing the Harima-nada Sea. Also known as Shinmaiko-hama, the area is characterized by a vast, shallow sandy beach and tidal flats that stretch approximately 1 km east to west. Situated within the Setonaikai National Park, it is a well-known leisure spot where visitors can immerse themselves in a beautiful natural environment.
The area has long been cherished for its rich natural coastline. While historical records note a landslide in the area behind the coast in 1971, the site has since been fully developed and managed as a premier leisure and swimming destination. The most striking feature is the expansive, shallow sandy beach and tidal flats. This unique topography makes it an ideal environment for hands-on activities like clam digging (shiohigari). Additionally, during certain seasons, visitors may witness a breathtaking sight when the winter sunrise coincides with low tide, causing the light to reflect brilliantly off the remaining tide pools on the sand.
