The Shin Yokohama Ramen Museum (often called 'Ra-Haku') is a food-themed amusement park located in Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture, dedicated to Japan's world-renowned culinary icon: Ramen. Based on the concept of "tasting famous ramen from all over Japan without needing to board a plane," the museum brings together celebrated ramen shops from across the country.
The interior of the museum features a nostalgic atmosphere that recreates the streets of Japan during the early Showa era. It feels as though you have stepped back in time. More than just a dining area, it is a unique facility where food meets entertainment, offering exhibition areas to learn about the history and culture of ramen, as well as various interactive programs.
The facility aims to pass down the culture of ramen as a vital part of Japanese culinary heritage to future generations. Beyond just eating, there are dedicated exhibition areas where visitors can learn about the history, manufacturing processes, and cultural significance of ramen, providing a deep understanding of Japanese food culture. In recent years, the museum has also focused on education and cultural-sharing by introducing programs that demonstrate traditional methods.

The museum is divided into two main areas: an exhibition area and a dining area. On the first floor, the exhibition gallery allows you to explore the evolution of Japanese food culture. You can also visit the museum shop to purchase exclusive merchandise found only here.
As you descend to the lower level, you will find a beautifully reconstructed Showa-era streetscape. A variety of highly selected ramen shops from across Japan line the streets, offering diverse flavors such as Shoyu (soy sauce), Miso, Shio (salt), and Tonkotsu (pork bone). You can also enjoy the nostalgic atmosphere of daily Japanese life by visiting the traditional candy stores (Dagashiya), coffee shops, and small snack bars located within the facility.
While the museum can be enjoyed in any season, the evening hours are particularly recommended. The atmosphere becomes more sophisticated during dinner time, with spots like "Izakaya Ryoji" and "Kissaten & Snack Kateko" offering a chance to enjoy delicious food alongside Japanese drinks. Additionally, because the museum hosts periodic events and features rotating limited-time ramen shops, there is always something new to discover with every visit.

The greatest charm of the museum is its interactive, sensory-driven content. For example, you can experience traditional noodle-making techniques like "Aotake-uchi" (green bamboo striking) to touch upon traditional Japanese craftsmanship. There are also playful activities like "Sugomen Lab," where you can create your own original cup ramen.
Furthermore, the event plaza in the lower area sometimes hosts street performances and live shows, allowing you to enjoy Japanese entertainment while you dine. It is a place where food, culture, and play truly become one.
The Shin Yokohama area is highly accessible, being located near the major transportation hub of Shin-Yokohama Station. The museum is surrounded by large commercial facilities, hotels, and event venues, making it a very convenient base for sightseeing. It is an ideal stop for travelers arriving via the Shinkansen (bullet train) from distant cities.
We recommend wearing comfortable walking shoes to enjoy exploring the facility. While the number of shops accepting credit cards and transportation IC cards (like Suica/Pasmo) is increasing, it is still wise to carry some cash (Japanese Yen) for a smoother experience. Please check the availability of any specific programs or exhibitions in advance. Photography is generally permitted, but please respect the specific rules of each individual shop/stall.
