On open days, visitors can explore the main facility and the small garden. Photography is permitted within the building and the garden; however, we ask that you be considerate of other visitors while doing so. The site undergoes seasonal maintenance and special programming, meaning the atmosphere can change depending on the time of year. Please note that opening days may change based on seasonal adjustments (summer/winter) or special events, so checking ahead is highly recommended.
Public access is scheduled for Wednesdays, Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays. However, because the facility may close during certain summer or winter periods, or change its schedule for events, it is essential to check the official schedule in advance. Generally, the opening is divided into two sessions: the morning (10:30–12:00) and the afternoon (13:00–16:00).
At Shiki-an, you can immerse yourself in a space that embodies Japanese literary culture. For groups of 10 or more, we recommend contacting the facility in advance to help manage crowd control and preparation. While no reservation is required for individuals or small groups, please ensure you visit during the designated opening hours.
Shiki-an is located in the Negishi area of Taito City, Tokyo. This neighborhood is rich in historical background and is an excellent area for a cultural stroll. The site is easily accessible via local public transportation.
Please prepare cash for your visit, as admission fees are used to support the facility's operations. While photography is allowed, please remain mindful of other visitors. English language support is limited, so please plan accordingly. For groups of 10 or more, prior notification is recommended.
