Shiga Kogen Yokoteyama Ski Resort is one of Japan's premier high-altitude resorts, featuring the highest point in Japan at 2,307m. Located on the border between Nagano and Gunma Prefectures, it offers dynamic natural landscapes throughout the year. In winter, it transforms into a world-class destination for skiing and snowboarding with exceptional powder snow. Winter (December–March) is the peak season for snow sports. The period from January to March is particularly famous for its stable, high-quality snow conditions. For summer and the transitional seasons (May–October), the resort is ideal for sightseeing and nature walks in a cool, high-altitude environment. We recommend visiting in the morning, as weather tends to be more stable and visibility is higher, offering the best chance to see the mountain panoramas.
Winter activities focus on skiing and snowboarding, utilizing the diverse terrain and elevation changes. While Yokoteyama and Shiga Kogen are interconnected, please note that certain sections between the two may require skating or walking due to the terrain. In summer, enjoy sightseeing via lifts and exploring the high-altitude trails. Please check the official lift operation schedules in advance, as availability varies significantly by season.
The resort is part of the expansive Shiga Kogen area. While there are routes to connect with Kumanotoya Ski Resort, please be aware that moving from Yokoteyama toward Kumanotoya may require walking at the lowest points due to the terrain. The base area is well-equipped with parking lots, dining facilities, accommodation, and first-aid stations to ensure visitor convenience.
