The Central Area is characterized by its interconnected network of many ski resorts. One of the most iconic features is the impressive long-distance course—stretching approximately 6 kilometers from Terakoya Ski Area through Higashitachiyama Ski Area to Happo Bunahira Ski Area. Each individual resort within the area has its own unique characteristics, allowing visitors to experience different sensations through varying terrain and course configurations as they move between different sectors.
This area operates during the winter season, with the peak season typically running from December through March. During the day, you can take lifts to high altitudes to enjoy riding across vast, snow-covered landscapes. The standard operating hours for the lifts and facilities are generally from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM.
The primary activities are downhill skiing and snowboarding. Because 13 different ski resorts are clustered here, you can tailor your experience to your preference by choosing courses that match the specific characteristics of each resort. The sheer scale of the area allows for a truly grand-scale mountain-riding experience.
Adjacent to the Central Area are the Yakebitaiyama and Kumonoyu areas. Together with these, the entire Shiga Kogen region forms a massive, unified ski resort complex.
