Shichirigahama is a beautiful coastline facing Sagami Bay, located in the southwestern part of Kamakura City, Kanagawa Prefecture. Selected as one of Japan's 100 Best Beaches, the coastline stretches approximately 4km. This area is well-known as a hub for marine sports such as yachting and windsurfing throughout the seasons. Visitors can enjoy a peaceful moment or the lively energy of the coast while gazing at the ocean.
Shichirigahama has long been cherished as a natural part of the Kamakura landscape. The area encompasses several districts, including Shichirigahama Higashi. Blessed with the rich natural environment of Sagami Bay, the surrounding region is also home to many historic temples and shrines. While the coastal conditions may not be ideal for swimming, the area serves as a premier destination for enjoying the spectacular scenery.
The greatest charm of Shichiriga-hama is its wide-open coastline facing Sagami Bay. Along the shore, you will find various facilities and buildings where you can sit and enjoy the view. The ocean's expression changes beautifully with the seasons and the time of day. Watching people enjoy yachting and windsurfing is a common sight here. Additionally, the nearby Enoden railway line offers a charming view of the sea right from the train windows.
Shichirigahama reveals a different face in every season. From spring to summer, the atmosphere is vibrant with many people enjoying marine sports under the bright sun. From autumn to winter, it is a perfect spot for quiet contemplation of the calm sea under clear skies. The sunset is particularly spectacular and highly recommended. Please note that the coast may not be suitable for swimming, so check local conditions if you plan to go near the water.

There are several restaurants, including Italian eateries, where you can enjoy a meal with a view of the ocean. Attractive areas such as Inamuragasaki and Koshigoe lie near Shichirigahama. From Shichirigahama Station, you can easily travel toward Kamakura or Fujisawa using the Enoshima Electric Railway (Enoden). The surrounding area is also dotted with historic temples, shrines, and hotels, making it a great base for exploring the wider Kamakura region.
When visiting Shichirigahama, we recommend wearing comfortable clothing suitable for seaside strolls. Since you may walk on sandy areas, comfortable walking shoes are ideal. Please also follow local rules and etiquette when using nearby facilities.
