Guide
SHIBUYA SKY is a stunning observation facility located on the top floors (45th, 46th, and the rooftop) of the Shibuya Scramble Square East Tower in Shibuya, Tokyo. Standing 229m above the ground, it offers an expansive 360-degree view of the Tokyo cityscape. More than just a viewpoint, the facility is designed as a 'spatial device' that guides visitors through a cohesive story from entrance to exit, stimulating intellectual curiosity and providing a deeply immersive experience.
The facility was born as part of the massive redevelopment project surrounding Shibuya Station. While originally planned as a high-rise building without a dedicated observation space, the design evolved through changes in building regulations and urban planning to become the current indoor/outdoor observatory. Designed by Nikken Sekkei and Nomura Kogyai, the experience is enhanced by the digital art collective Rhizomatics, creating a unique fusion of urban landscapes and cutting-edge digital technology.

SHIBUYA SKY is divided into three distinct zones. First, the "SKY GATE" (from the 14th to 45th floors) uses the elevator journey to transition your mindset from the everyday to the extraordinary. Next, the "SKY STAGE" is one of Japan's largest rooftop observation spaces, featuring the "SKY EDGE"—where you can look directly down at the Shibuya Scramble Crossing—and the "CLOUD HAMMOCK," where you can lounge as if floating in the sky. Finally, the 46th-floor indoor corridor, "SKY GALLERY," features digital art installations like "TIME RIVER" and "PARALLEL WINDOWS," which use high-definition 4K displays to blend the real scenery with digital-driven perspectives.
You can enjoy completely different atmospheres depending on when you visit. During the day, the view of Tokyo is crystal clear, offering a stunning contrast against the blue sky. At twilight, you can witness the dramatic transition as the city lights begin to twinkle alongside a beautiful sunset. At night, the "CROSSING LIGHT" show features 18 searchlights that create a spectacular light show above the city. The facility also hosts seasonal events and celestial observation programs throughout the year.

Beyond just sightseeing, you can engage with interactive digital technology. Through "TIME RIVER," you can participate in a visual representation of the flow of time using touch-sensitive elements. On the rooftop, the "CLOUD HAMMOCK" offers a relaxing way to feel closer to the sky. Additionally, look out for special themed experiences like the "PARADISE SOUND SESSION," which blends music and lighting for a unique sensory experience.
SHIBUYA SKY is located in the heart of Shibuya, one of Tokyo's most vibrant districts. The famous Shibuya Scramble Crossing, along with countless fashion boutiques, cafes, and restaurants, is right at your doorstep. Being directly connected to Shibuya Station, it is incredibly easy to access during a shopping trip or a night out in Tokyo.

For safety reasons, large bags and bulky items (other than small cameras or smartphones) are not permitted on the rooftop (SKY STAGE). Please store your belongings in the lockers located on the 46th floor. Please note that access to the rooftop may be restricted during high winds or severe weather. Since much of the experience is outdoors, we recommend dressing appropriately for the season and weather. Advance reservations are highly recommended; please arrive on time, as late arrivals may face difficulties entering during their designated time slot.
