Sennin-zuka Park is a natural park located in the Nanakubo district of Iijima Town, Nagano Prefecture. The park is characterized by its magnificent views of the Central Alps, which are beautifully reflected on the surface of the lake. The area is steeped in local legend dating back to the Sengoku (Warring States) period. It is said that a mountain castle called Kitayama-jo once stood in this vicinity. According to local lore, when the castle was under attack, the fallen soldiers and their equipment were buried in this area. This historical connection to the "thousand mounds" is why the park is named "Sennin-zuka" (meaning Mound of a Thousand People).
The park offers a landscape that transforms with every season. Visitors can enjoy the majestic sight of the Central Alps reflected in the lake, as well as stargazing and nature observation. Please note that from December to March, the operating hours are shortened to 15:00. We recommend checking the schedule before your visit.
