Senbonmatsu Farm is one of the largest and most prominent tourist ranches in Northern Kanto, located in the Nasunogahara area of Nasushiobara, Tochigi Prefecture. The ranch is characterized by its vast pastures spanning over 200 hectares across a plateau at an altitude of 320 to 380 meters. It produces high-quality fresh milk daily from more than 500 dairy cows. Founded in 1902 by Masayoshi Matsukata, the ranch has a rich history of pioneering modern, Western-style farm management. Today, it serves as a comprehensive leisure facility where agriculture, dining, shopping, hot springs, and outdoor activities converge, attracting 800,000 to 900,000 visitors annually.
The history of this ranch dates back to 1902 during the Meiji era. It began when the politician Masayoshi Matsukata acquired land from the Nasu Kaikonsha. The name "Senbonmatsu" (meaning One Thousand Pines) originates from the many Japanese Black Pine trees that naturally grew in the surrounding area at the time. Originally established as a model for modern farm management, the land was transferred to Horai Sangyo Co., Ltd. (now Horai Co., Ltd.) in 1928. After World War II, the ranch focused on dairy farming and in 1964, it established its status as a tourist destination by introducing its famous Genghis Khan (grilled mutton) cuisine. Its location near the Nishi-Nasuno-Shiobara Interchange of the Tohoku Expressway makes it easily accessible for travelers.

Since the ranch is vast and situated in a natural environment, we recommend wearing comfortable, easy-to-move-in clothing and sturdy walking shoes. For activities like hot air ballooning or horseback riding, appropriate gear is required for safety. Regarding payments, both cash and credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, etc.) are accepted for dining and activities. While some English signage is available, we recommend learning basic terms or asking staff for assistance to ensure a smooth experience. While photography of the scenery is generally free, please follow specific rules during certain activities. Please note that some areas may have uneven surfaces or steps, so care is needed when using a wheelchair.
