Kiyoharu Art Colony is a unique cultural complex located in Nagasaka, Hokuto City, Yamanashi Prefecture. It is situated on the grounds of the former Kiyoharu Elementary School, preserving the essence of the original school architecture. The expansive site is home to several notable institutions, including the Kiyoharu Shirakaba Museum and the Museum of Light, alongside various studios, ateliers, and guest houses. It offers a rare opportunity to experience contemporary art and historic architecture in a lush, natural environment.
The facility was developed by repurposing the site of the former Kiyoharu Elementary School, which dates back to 1925 (Taisho 14). While maintaining its historical identity as a school, the colony has evolved into a vibrant hub for artists and intellectuals.
