Satake-ji is a temple of the Shingon Shuzen sect located in Hitachiota City, Ibaraki Prefecture. Its mountain name is Myofukusan and its temple name is Myoin. The main deity is the Eleven-Headed Kannon Bodhisattva, and it is widely known as the 22nd site of the Bando 33 Kannon Pilgrimage. The most significant historical feature of this temple is its main hall, which is designated as a National Important Cultural Property. The temple grounds preserve the essence of traditional Japanese temple architecture, showcasing deep historical roots and architectural elegance.
The history of the temple is ancient, with legends dating back to its founding in 807 AD. Records also show that in 985 AD, Kasan-in enshrined an Eleven-Headed Kannon statue believed to be crafted by Prince Shotoku. The temple was once known as Kannon-ji.
