Sapporo Teine Ski Resort is a premier ski destination located on the slopes of Mt. Teine in the Teine Ward of Sapporo, Hokkaido. The resort is divided into two distinct areas: the Highland Zone and the Olympia Zone, each offering unique experiences. Visitors can enjoy historic courses that once hosted Olympic competitions, as well as a variety of amenities such as a Snow Land for play and advanced terrain parks. Its close proximity to Sapporo city makes it a popular destination for both domestic and international skiers and snowboarders.
The resort holds a significant place in winter sports history, having served as a venue for the Alpine Skiing events (Slalom and Giant Slalom) during the 1972 Sapporo Winter Olympics. In the Olympia Zone, you can still see the remains of the era, including the Olympic torch stand. Formerly known as "Teine Olympia," the area was developed in conjunction with the Olympic Games. Today, it is operated by Kasomori Kanko and remains one of Hokkaido's most beloved and iconic ski resorts.
Sapporo Teine offers a diverse range of runs suitable for all levels. The Highland Zone features beginner-friendly runs like Natural and Paradise, intermediate runs such as City View Cruise, and challenging courses for advanced riders like Joshi University Slalom and Kita Kabe. The Olympia Zone offers the Rainbow and Shirakaba series of courses, where you can enjoy downhill runs with beautiful views near the Olympic torch stand. For snowboard enthusiasts, the terrain parks and the Snow Land activity area provide endless excitement.
The peak season is from December to March, when the snow quality is exceptional. Additionally, a "Special Spring Ski Period" is often held from late March to May, allowing visitors to enjoy snow play under the bright spring sun. Please note that after March 30th, as regular JR bus services end, a free shuttle bus system is implemented to assist travelers. Since lift ticket pricing structures vary by season, we highly recommend checking the official website before your visit.
Beyond downhill skiing and snowboarding, the resort offers various activities to enhance your trip. The terrain parks allow advanced riders to hone their technical skills, while the Snow Land provides a fun environment for casual snow play. To ensure a smooth experience, the resort utilizes IC lift tickets for easy movement and purchasing. We also recommend purchasing your tickets online in advance to reduce waiting times at the ticket counters.
Located in the Teine Ward of Sapporo, the resort is incredibly easy to access from the city center. The proximity of the slopes to the urban area makes it a highly convenient destination for travelers staying in Sapporo. The surrounding area also features golf courses, making it a versatile leisure destination even outside of the winter season.
To enjoy skiing or snowboarding, you will need proper gear such as warm clothing, gloves, and goggles. The resort offers comprehensive rental services for skis, snowboards, and apparel. During the spring season, look out for potential discounts on accessory sets (hats, gloves, and goggles). Since the facility uses IC card-based automatic gates, preparing your digital or physical ticket in advance will ensure a seamless entry. For travel after March 30th, please plan to use the free shuttle bus service.
